TORONTO – Badminton players Adrian Liu and Derrick Ng were forced to withdraw from the Pan American Games on Friday after violating registration rules.

The doubles partners from Vancouver registered in multiple events in the same week of competition, which is against Badminton World Federation regulations.

Badminton Canada appealed the decision, arguing the duo inadvertently broke the rules.

The appeal was denied.

The Pan Am Games open Friday and run through July 26.
